Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon instant dry yeast
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¾ cup plain yogurt
- 1 cup warm water
Optional Additions:
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
- Melted butter or ghee for brushing
Instructions
- Combine flour, yeast, salt, baking powder, and baking soda in a large mixing bowl.
- Make a well in the center; add yogurt and warm water. Mix to form a dough.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal portions. Cover and let rest for 5-10 minutes.
- Roll each dough ball into an oval shape, about ¼-inch thick.
- Preheat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat (400-450°F).
- Cook naan for 60-90 seconds until bubbles form, then flip and cook for another 45-60 seconds until lightly charred.
- Brush with melted butter or ghee immediately after cooking.
